Kaikōura is renowned worldwide as a birding hotspot; within just a small area, you'll meet one of the greatest varieties of seabirds and pelagic birdlife you'll find anywhere!  Join our expert Skipper/Guide aboard this small and intimate wildlife tour and get up close and personal with the biggest wingspan on the planet! 

Product Description

You're in fantastic hands. Our skippers know their stuff and are keen to share their knowledge about all the seabirds and any other wildlife you encounter. They can also cater the tour to what you and others on the boat want, making it a great choice for both the general wildlife enthusiast and the avid birder.

On a small vessel designed for purpose; we only take up to 12 people on each tour, so that you get the best possible chance to see the birds up close.  This breath taking proximity to the birdlife and the stunning coastline provides some incredible photographic opportunities.

 

 

Departure Times

October - April	9.00am & 1.00pm daily
May - September	10.00am daily

All tours are subject to minimum numbers and suitable sea conditions on the day to operate.

Please note our popular high season 6.00am sunrise departure is not currently scheduled due to reduced demand.  We look forward to reinstating this in the future!

Duration

We suggest that you allow approximately 2.5 hours for a tour. 

What To Bring

• We recommend a few layers of clothing so that you can adapt to conditions at sea on the day. 
• Be prepared for NZ weather – always wear sunscreen and bring rain jackets if required.
• There will be photo opportunities!  We encourage you to bring your own camera, smart phone and/or GoPro.  We also have GoPro cameras and accessories available for hire subject to availability at time of request.  Please note that drones are not permitted on our tours.
• Whilst we have some limited water supply on board, refreshments are not available to purchase at sea. We have an onsite Café at our operating base that does great breakfast, lunch and take away.  You are welcome to bring your own fresh water and snacks with you.  Please note that during certain Covid restrictions we are unable to provide complimentary hot drinks on board which you may see advertised ahead of your tour.
