A relatively easy family friendly ride (Grade 1-2) that follows the riverside trails between Lake Hāwea and Wānaka. nzbiketrails luxury shuttle will pick you up from the centre of Wānaka and transport you to Lake Hāwea giving you a taste of the history of the area on the way.
nzbiketrails will provide an overview of the route, safety briefing and a test ride to ensure that your bike is comfortable for you with the right seat height. You will then have all day to explore the local area on your bike and make stops on the way. Our favourite stop is the Patisserie in Albert Town – an award-winning bakery.
On arrival in Wānaka nzbiketrails will then pick up your bikes at the original pickup location (outside the Wānaka Information Site, 103 Ardmore Street). This experience involves 2-3 hours of riding but with lots of stops along the way for photos, relaxation and watching the world go by. Plan 4-5 hours including stops. The bikes are yours for the full day (latest pickup 4pm). nzbiketrails recommends the 9am pickup in the warmer months - which gives you a full day to explore, chill, explore and relax – and the 1030am pickup in the colder months. nzbiketrails also runs a 1230pm shuttle for those guests that arrive later in the day. Please note that the Pembroke Patisserie closes at 2pm - 1230 riders will not make it in time - so please ensure that you are on an earlier shuttle if you want to stop at the Patisserie.
The shuttle departs at 0900hrs, 1030hrs and 1230hrs. Booking is essential.
The meeting point is from the loading bays outside Wānaka i-Site, 103 Ardmore Street, Wānaka.
There is free parking approximately 5 minutes away on each of the long sides of Pembroke Park parallel to the Lakeside. Only park in the spaces adjacent to the park as the spaces across the road are time-limited.
Please arrive for the shuttles 10 minutes early as the shuttles will departure on schedule.
2-3 hrs of actual riding. Please plan in 4-5 hours if you want to enjoy the ride with plenty of stops.
nzbiketrails will often get riders who actually only ride for 2.5 hours but they spend the entire day just relaxing, stopping when they want to, chilling and enjoying the views - from meeting the shuttle at 9am through to dropping their bikes off at the latest pickup time at 4pm
