We're building a new Canterbury Museum, but you can still visit our exhibitions while the Rolleston Avenue buildings are closed.
Enjoy highlights from the Museum collection and changing exhibitions at the Canterbury Museum Pop-Up at 66 Gloucester Street in central Christchurch.
The pop-up Museum features highlights from the collection and visitor favourites. On display are taonga (treasures) that represent the breadth and depth of the Museum's collection, ranging from taxidermied animals to historic objects from the Antarctic, Mountfort and Early Settlers galleries. Visitors can also see beautiful taonga Māori and Pasifika alongside the return of two firm visitor favourites, the horse from The Christchurch Street and Ivan Mauger’s gold bike. Around half the space is dedicated to collection highlights and visitor favourites from the Museum’s permanent galleries. The other half displays temporary exhibitions.
Entry is free and donations are appreciated.
