Wilderness Snowmobiling Adventure Queenstown

You’ll be cruising across pristine snow at an altitude of up to 6 000ft above sea level. There are stunning views and plenty of opportunities to stop and take photos. To whet your appetite here are some of photos of the spectacular landscape.

The snowmobile tour will move at a pace comfortable for everyone. Our snowmobiles are modern Polaris machines, they are easy to operate, and your guide is right there if you need any assistance. No previous experience is required.

In total your trip is around two and a half hours in duration. This includes a 15-minute scenic helicopter flight each way and approximately 1 1/2 hours snowmobiling.

At the end of your snow adventure you’ll depart by helicopter for a scenic flight back to Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters’ base. Our courtesy van will drop you back to your accommodation into central Queenstown.

What To Bring

Queenstown Snowmobiles occurs in an alpine environment during the winter and early spring months. It can be very cold so dress warmly. We recommend woollen garments and layers.

Wear a warm hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. You may need sunglasses for your flight but the helmets we provide when riding the snowmobiles have a sun visor.

Of course bring your camera and Go Pros. Drones are not permitted at all.

A day pack and some water is handy.

Queenstown Snowmobiles is now in its seventh season offering passengers an awesome trip of a lifetime.

We searched for the perfect location and settled upon the Garvie Plateau in our spectacular high country.  During the summer time the location is a working high country station (farm).

Our experienced local snowmobiling guides know the terrain and environment wrapped up in a passion for the outdoors.

Queenstown Snowmobiles is owned and operated by Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters.  Access to and from our snowmobiling site is by way of helicopter only. All snowmobile tours include a return helicopter flight from Queenstown (approx. 15 minutes each way).
