Product Description

With high-performance boats designed specifically for our stretch of the river, we take you through our Canyons; riding the rapids and performing thrilling, gravity-defying stunts within a hair’s breadth of the awe-inspiring cliff faces. Our boats are made for speed, travelling at up to 90 kilometres an hour in as little as 10 centimetres of water. A unique combination of beauty and power, it’s an experience like no other, blending pristine natural landscape with wall to wall action from start to finish.

Our connection to Kimiākau (the Shotover River) goes back centuries. Before the arrival of Europeans, our Ngāi Tahu tipuna (ancestors) would use this network of awa (rivers) to gather food, plants and pounamu (greenstone). As the home of our ancestors, this place is a part of us. We’re the only ones with access to the spectacular canyons and no one knows this area like we do.

What to expect;

• Our jet boats carry a maximum of 14 passengers for a more personal experience: small boats- big thrills!

• Twin engine jet boats for the highest standards in safety..

• Self drive – located 6kms or a 10 minute drive from Queenstown.

Departure Times

• Daily from 10.00am - 4:00pm.

• We operate every day (river and weather conditions permitting) except Christmas Day.

Duration

25 minutes on the water, action packed from the moment you leave the jetty.

Allow 1 hour (if self driving) or 1 hour 45 minutes if taking our complimentary shuttle.

Complimentary shuttles depart ‘The Station’ Information Centre, 25 Shotover Street, Queenstown. Space is limited so please arrive early to secure your seat.

What To Bring

Life jackets are mandatory and are supplied

Eyewear recommended year round.

Dress warmly in winter – warm clothes, jacket, hat and gloves (although hand rails on the jet boats are heated) are strongly recommended.

Minimum child height of one metre applies (1.2m in certain conditions). This experience is not recommended if you are pregnant. If you have any specific medical conditions or if you suffer from back or neck problems, please advise at the time of booking so we can assess and advise your suitability to travel.

Onsite facilities include parking, retail, toilets, secure lockers and viewing areas. There is a restaurant next door to us.

For safety reasons the only cameras allowed on board Shotover Jet are forehead mounted hands free Go Pro or similar. Any other cameras or phones are not permitted to be carried aboard our Jet boats.
