Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park and Motel is located 4.5 kilometres from Nelson city centre and adjacent to the long white sands of Tāhunanui Beach. It covers 54 acres of parkland with 1km of shorefront that has been available for almost nine decades for holidaymakers to enjoy.

The Holiday Park’s location gives you direct access to the beach, playing fields and local beachside attractions.

Self-contained accommodation

Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park & Motel offers a diverse range of affordable self-contained accommodations to suit every stay. From a quick overnight stop to a longer family getaway, you’ll find a style to suit you:

Kitchen Cabins

The Kitchen Cabins at Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park provide a comfortable option for those wanting their own kitchen and dining space, but still using communal toilet and shower facilities.  Our Kitchen Cabins come in configurations suitable for 2, 4 or 5 people. Basic Cabins

Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park has 600 campsites spread across 54 acres of parkland. These are located in four separate colour-coded zones, which means you can choose the area that has the features and facilities that suits you best.

Apartment Motels

There are 10 self-contained Apartments at Tahuna Beach Holiday Park, all north-facing with decks to enjoy the Nelson sunshine and accommodating up to five guests per apartment.

Classic Accessible Units

The easy-access two-bedroom motel unit is specifically designed to accommodate people less mobile or wheelchair bound, The easy access motel units contain:

• Two bedrooms – one with a queen bed and one with one single bed and a trundler. 
• Fully accessible bathroom with shower / toilet
• Fully accessible kitchen with fridge, microwave and cooking facilities
• Dining facilities
• Complimentary coffee and tea-making facilities
• Lounge with two sofas
• TV with Freeview
• Heat pump for heating and cooling
• Washing machine and dryer

Classic Studio

With two self-contained units located next to each other and very close to Apartment motels, these units are great for larger families or groups wanting to be close to Apartments or White Zone.

• Basic kitchen equipment of an electric fry pan, microwave oven (but no stove/oven), toaster, jug plus cooking utensils

Powered and unpowered sites

Our 600 campsites are located in four separate colour-coded zones, which means you can choose the area that has the features and facilities that suit your needs the best.

Each zone has its own communal kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, along with a recycling station. So just pick your spot, bring it all and use the communal areas closest to your site.

Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park

Our Park has hosted great holidays for over eight decades. In 2016 we celebrated our 90th anniversary, commemorating the beginning of the Tāhuna Sands Association’s development of the site back in 1926. You can find out more about our history here: tahuna.nz/history/

Governing Board of Directors

The 54 acres that Tāhuna Beach Holiday Park sits on is owned by Nelson City Council and leased back to the Tāhuna Camp Incorporated Society to run the Park.  Anyone can be a member of the society.  The Board is elected from the society members or co-opted on, and board members serve two-year terms.
