The Cardrona sightseeing activity centre offers first class family friendly guided horse trekking and quad biking adventures of the stunning Cardrona Valley, between Wanaka and Queenstown in the South Island of New Zealand. 

We are situated right at the base of the Cardrona ski field. Only a 45-50 minute picturesque drive over the Crown Range from Queenstown or 20 minutes drive from Wanaka.

The Cardrona has been developed to allow visitors to explore and experience our unique slice of high country heaven by guided adventures on horseback or quad bike all year around adding to the many other things to do in Wanaka! Either astride a horse or a quad bike experience a scenic, informative and memorable experience of the Cardrona Valley.

The Cardrona Valley has so much to offer in the way of its rugged high country scenery, the changing moods and distinguished seasons, the many historical gold mining stories, the working sheep, cattle & deer farm that we are in the heart of, and the famous historical Cardrona Hotel that we incorporate as a stop on some of the horse treks and quad bike adventures.

OUR STORY

The Cardrona was established back in 2013 with the idea of taking small groups into the beautiful mountains of the Cardrona Valley, horses & quad bikes being the vehicle to allow access to the amazing alpine scenery on offer.

The unique arrangement we have with our friends who own the 15,000 acre private high country farmland allows us exclusive access to remote areas often only accessible by horse or quad bike. Also being on a working sheep, cattle and deer farm adds to the ever changing environment and provides us with up close interactions with these animals adding to The Cardrona story we tell along the way.

The focus on keeping group sizes small or private has been maintained and we have found to be the key for a most memorable experience. Being flexible to cater for all ages & abilities by having a selection of horses and quad bikes plus the 6 seater buggy on offer plus our amazing guides being adaptable and “on call” for the differing needs of our clients.
